Two Part-time Teaching Roles

A teacher is sought to work part time creating two one-day professional development courses on subjects related to totalitarianism

Location: Hybrid – Remote and Westminster, London

Basis: Part-time, Freelance

Salary: Dependent on experience

The Foundation for the History of Totalitarianism is seeking a history teacher to develop two one-day professional development (CPD) courses for secondary school teachers. The courses will provide material and information to enable teachers to teach lessons on two subjects related to totalitarianism. Provisionally, the subjects chosen are the Holodomor and the Wannsee Conference.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver two one-day CPD training courses for secondary history teachers this autumn.
  • Work closely with Foundation staff on the content and delivery of the courses.
  • Ensure the courses provide content that is unique and interesting for teachers.
  • Create materials that enable teachers to teach these subjects.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A history teacher with a strong interest in the history of totalitarianism in the 20th century.
  • Confident in developing high-quality teaching resources and training materials.
  • Flexible, with the ability to work independently and in person at our Westminster office.

Part-time Outreach History Teacher

Location: Various UK schools, with some time in Westminster, London

Basis: Part-time, Freelance

Salary: Dependent on experience

We are seeking to recruit a passionate and engaging history teacher to deliver workshops on the Holodomor and perhaps other topics related to totalitarianism in secondary schools across southern England. This role is ideal for a teacher looking to work part-time and willing to travel. A Holodomor workshop plan has already been developed, but the teacher can revise it in consultation with the Foundation.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver workshops on the Holodomor and potentially other topics during the autumn term.
  • Contact schools to arrange the workshops.
  • Travel to schools to deliver the workshops.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified teacher with an enthusiasm for history.
  • Strong communication skills and an engaging personality.
  • Willing to travel to various schools across the UK, with some in-person work at our Westminster office.
  • Comfortable using a laptop to present slides and videos in a classroom setting.
